Youth Police Academy
Prescott Valley Police Department
The Prescott Valley Police Department is excited to announce their summer 2019 Youth Academy “A Peek behind the Curtain” to be held from Monday, July 8th to Friday, July 12th at the Police Department. Academy size is limited to fifteen students aged 14 to 18 years of age and who are attending school within the town limits of Prescott Valley in August. This program is being offered free of charge to these students.
We want our community’s youth to see what it means to be a police officer, to live a life of sacrifice and service to a community, and how rewarding and fulfilling this life can be. We have arranged specialized trainers to come and spend their time and knowledge enriching the lives of our participants. We have many surprises planned for attendees as they become part of a select group to get a “peek behind the curtain” at the leadership and ethics involved in this profession. As an agency, we recognize the value and potential of our high school students as leaders in our community. We want to partner with them (and the community as a whole) in helping them reach that potential. Our attendees will leave the academy certified in first aid. They will have exciting experiences in team building and the importance of professionalism in times of crisis.
Applications for the academy are available at this link, at the police station, at the public library, and at schools. Those selected to participate will be notified before June 15st, 2019. Please get them in as soon as possible. We don’t want anyone to miss out on this exciting opportunity.
We are asking for donations from the business community in the form of cash sponsorships, water, and nutritious snacks during the five days to assist us in providing an outstanding leadership experience for our youth. Our sponsors will be advertised on our printed material and our social media and recognized for their contributions to this program. Please make checks payable to “Prescott Valley Police Foundation” with Youth Academy on the memo line. 100% of your donations will go to this program. Donations can be dropped off at the station, or you can contact CSO Jodi Mullins at (928) 772-5164 to make arrangements. This is a great way to make a small contribution that can have larger benefits for our community and our future! Thank you in advance for partnering with us for our youth.
