Receive emergency notifications through Nixle and Code Red

EMERGENCY NOTE for page

Chief of Police Bryan Jarrell encourages all citizens to sign up for Nixle and CodeRED alert systems. The Prescott Valley Police Department regularly uses Nixle and CodeRED during a critical incident and / or emergency situation that may impact residents inside our town limits, such as the fire near Viewpoint. Nixle and CodeRED are Community Information Services dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you, depending on your physical location. You can stay connected to the Prescott Valley Police Department, your children’s schools, your local community agencies and organizations, and the important information from other locations throughout the country that are relevant to you. Information is immediately available on your cell phone by text message, by email, and over the internet. Your Nixle and CodeRED account can be customized so you receive the information that matters most to you.

What messages would I receive through Nixle and CodeRED?

Only authorized agencies, which include the Prescott Valley Police Department and community organizations can securely publish information. There are four types of messages; Alerts (many would refer to this as an emergency type alert), Advisories (less urgent need-to-know information), Community Information (day-to-day neighborhood and community-level information), Traffic (localized traffic information only).

With CodeRED, we can send messages to residents and businesses within minutes with specific information when an emergency or time-sensitive issue arises. Although ENS does contain published landline phone number information by default, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office may only get landline phone data updates twice a year. This is why it is vital that you register all your phone numbers directly to assure contact in an emergency.
